Love Rules by Marilyn Reynolds is about diversity. It is part of Marilyn's True-To-Life series of books about teens.Lynn and Kit have been best friends since they were eleven. They share everything. Or Lynn thought they did until Kit tells her that she is a lesbian.
After a slow start, Lynn realizes that she needs to stand up for Kit and everyone else who is picked on by the homophobic and racists kids on campus. They both join the GSA (gay straight alliance) to try to make Hamilton High a safe place for its students.
