Bloodline (Sigma Force #8)

Bloodline by James Rollins is the eighth book in his Sigma Force series that began with Sandstorm. Sigma Force is a group with in DARPA made up of elite soldiers with advanced science or technology degrees - the idea being that a small team can go into any situation with knowledge than any other. One of Sigma's main goals is to stop a shadow organization that seems to be behind most major power grabs around the world, known only as the Guild.

The latest mission for Grey Pierce and his team involves the daughter of the President of the United States. Amanda and her husband were sent a letter warning them that their unborn child was in danger. They reacted by traveling halfway around the world on false papers and renting a yacht in the Seychelles. Unfortunately, they are found by Somali pirates.

Sigma must track Amanda into Somalia - a country almost entirely run by bands of pirates - and find her in the jungle. For this special mission, they need to recruit two new team members. Retired Captain Tucker Wayne and his war dog, Kane, are the perfect team to track anything with a scent.

Rollins is a master of the genre that Dan Brown got famous for with the DaVinci Code - but James Rollins is the best in the genre. His books will keep readers on their toes, staying up late due to adrenalin and a need to know what happens next!

The Devil Colony (Sigma #7)

The Devil Colony by James Rollins is his seventh Sigma Force book. Sigma Force is a secret group under the DARPA budget - highly trained special forces soldiers trained in different sciences to deal with any situation.

A cave is discovered in the Rocky Mountains - a cave that has been protected by its location and local stories that tell of a curse - and a fight over the mummified bodies found leads to protests. When an explosion goes off outside of the cave, a Native American protester is blamed.

The artifacts hidden in the cave trigger a chain reaction that will be felt throughout the world. It is a story that began during the time of the thirteen colonies - and a battle between two forces that wish to shape the world.

Sigma will use its every resource to find and secure a technology that is too dangerous to be found. And the race will take them from Utah to a remote volcanic island, to the trail of Lewis and Clark before they either save the planet or die trying.

Rollins is a master. He combines history, science, mythology, and more to create the type of books that keep readers awake all night to find out what happens next. Every one of his books is an amazing, heart-pounding ride.

The Doomsday Key (Sigma Force #6)

The Doomsday Key is the sixth Sigma Force novel by James Rollins.

Sigma Force is a group of special forces military people who have been sent back to school and trained in some field of science, technology, medicine, or engineering. Together they can solve any problem.

The latest problem begins with a bioengineering strain of corn being tested in Africa. Someone has attacked the village and the researchers and burned it to the ground with the crop.

A symbol found at the scene ties the attack to a murder in Italy. Could it be an eco-terrorist group?

Sigma is assigned to investigate.

All of Rollins' books are non-stop action mixed with the latest science headlines. He is one of my favorite authors and this latest Sigma Force novel lives up to his usual level of intensity.

The Last Oracle (Sigma Force #5)

The latest Sigma Force novel by James Rollins is The Last Oracle.

Sigma Force is a branch of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). It is a group of military commandos who have been trained in a science. Each member has a specialty and teams are put together to best address the discovery/threat at hand.

In The Last Oracle, Rollins takes the heritage of the Roma (Gypsies) back through Europe to the Punjab region of India. In the novel, it is possible that the Roma originated in Greece, in the genetic line of the Oracle of Delphi.

Now someone has captured the line of Roma who have mystical powers. They have bred children with superpowers in an attempt to be the next world prophet. But in order to set off the reign of the new prophet, the plan is to create a nuclear holocaust.

Sigma Force is led into the mix when a scientist who has been studying mystics around the world is shot of their front step.

As always, Rollins has created a fascinating thrill ride that readers will not be able to put down. The book stands alone, but for better character info, read them in order: Sandstorm, Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, The Last Oracle. (All other great James Rollins novels are stand-alones and can be read in any order - and I recommend reading them all!)

The Judas Strain

James Rollin's latest book, The Judas Strain, is just as good as every other book he has published. This man has quite and imagination and some great research skills. This is the second book in the SIGMA Force novels.

A horrific plague has bubbled up from the depths of the Indian Ocean and completely decimated life on Christmas Island. The SIGMA team, acting as World Health Organization doctors, infiltrate the cruise ship-turned hospital/research facility. All members of Sigma has some medical or scientific training, making them useful while they are gathering information.

At the same time in the US, SIGMA commander Gray Pierce is enjoying his parent's 4th of July party. But at the end of that party, an assassin crashes her motorcycle into the yard while trying to seek his help.

Somehow everything that is going on can be traced back to the travels of Marco Polo.

James Rollins writes books in the same genre as The DaVinci Code, but he does it well! He is a master storyteller. I recommend any of his books.
